Semaglutide is an injectable peptide that is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonist. GLP-1 is the hormone which plays a major role in appetite and digestion. It also slows down how quickly food leaves your stomach (called gastric emptying). Semaglutide also stimulates your pancreas to release more insulin and blocks a hormone in the liver which releases sugar. As a result, these actions cause you to feel fuller longer, eat less, and lose weight.
Tirzepatide is an injectable peptide that is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) agonist that works within the stomach, it works on two receptor sites. GLP-1 and GIP are both incretin hormones, which are released after eating. Tirzepatide acts like two incretins, therefore, it can cause more weight loss.
